A French firefighter was killed in a Paris suburb while fighting a blaze in a parking garage sparked by rioters.
The Corporal-Chief of the Paris Fire Brigade, 24, died in an underground car park in Saint-Denis where several vehicles had been set ablaze, GB News reported.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, said Monday: “Overnight, while fighting against a blaze involving several vehicles in an underground car park in Saint-Denis, a young Corporal-Chief of the Paris Fire Brigade died despite very rapid treatment by his teammates.”
The firefighter's name has not been released yet.
It was the sixth night that people have rioted after a police officer shot and killed a teen during a traffic stop. He claimed self-defense. But recently released video showed the officer leaned into the driver's window and fired.
While the family wants justice, they also want people to stop the violent protests.
A burning car was rammed into the home of a mayor while his wife and children slept inside.
L'Hay-les-Roses Mayor Vincent Jeanbrun said rioters threw rockets as his family fled the house. His wife suffered a broken leg after she was hit.
On Saturday night, 45,000 police officers were deployed with 719 people arrested.
